The difference between Orthodoxy and Christianity

Orthodoxy is mainly distributed in Russia, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Greece.

Christianity: Only the Bible. Tradition can be referenced, but it is not authoritative.

Orthodoxy: Bible + Fathers' tradition + Ecumenical Council resolution. Attach importance to tradition and believe that it is as important as the Bible.

Christianity: Only recognizes 2: baptism and icons. Opposes idols, and many denominations prohibit images. Worship is centered on preaching.

Orthodoxy: 7 sacraments, such as baptism, Eucharist, marriage, etc. Revere icons. Worship is very ritualistic, using icons, incense burners, etc.

Christianity: Justified by faith, trust in Christ for salvation; emphasizes "total depravity" and must be saved by grace.

Orthodoxy: Emphasizes "deification", and people become like God. It is believed that people are damaged by the fall, but not completely corrupt.

The Orthodox Church emphasizes the mystical tradition, liturgical sanctification, and the tradition of unity; the Protestant Church emphasizes the authority of the Bible, justification by faith, and the direct relationship between the individual and God.
